As 2021 comes to a close, we want to take the time to look back on the challenges of this past year and to give thanks for your generous support, which has enabled The Family Place and The Family Place Adult Public Charter School, to continue providing essential services to our clients. As a previous donor, you have been a key factor to ensure the success of our Two Agency, Two Generation approach in serving the families in our community by providing them with critical educational and social support services.

Our clients are mostly low-income, immigrant adults and children who regularly face enormous financial and social hardships. The COVID 19 pandemic has exacerbated those challenges, making our services even more essential to their current and future well-being. Many clients lost jobs or had working hours cut, lost their housing, and continue to have limited access to health care for themselves and their children. Despite the economic reopening, many are still working fewer hours and must juggle multiple jobs to maintain economic stability, and many struggle to find affordable childcare as schools and community opportunities have remained closed or have had limited hours.

To date this year, we have supported 643 families, an increase from previous years. We provided food bags, clothing, diapers, gift cards, and limited rental support to many of our clients. The Family Place Public Charter School provided online educational classes and computer technical support during 2020-21, and is now open for both online and in-person classes in English as a Second Language, Foundations of Literacy, job training, and computer skills. The Family Place continues to provide early childhood education support at our office and through home visits to provide educational materials and guidance to parents of our youngest clients. Case management and social service referrals, domestic violence support, and other wrap-around services complement these important programs.

With your support, we have been able to assist our families to navigate the challenges they face, but the needs are far from met. In 2022, (our 42nd year!), we hope to provide additional early childhood support for parents with young children both onsite and through our home visiting program. Your support will help us meet this goal and allow us to expand our early learning programs, in addition to continuing to support our clients with emergency food, clothing, diapers, gift cards, and rental support.

We are thankful to you for your support, and hope that you will consider giving a generous donation to The Family Place before the end of this year. Your contribution will make a direct difference so hundreds of families may overcome adversity and thrive through the power of education.
